Vestar Black Hawk first impressions
I first want to start off by saying that this is my first electric skateboard. I have been riding skateboards my whole life and finally for my 43 birthday under Covid lockdown I finally placed the order. I spent a long time researching different boards and finally decided to take the plunge with the Vestar Black Hawk.
My order and shipping experience with Vestar was perfect . I contacted the company on July 5 and asked if they were experiencing any delays in shipping due to the corona virus and I was told with air shipping it would take 10 working days for delivery. I placed my order and had my skateboard and 14 business days. I will spot them 4 days, during this shit show. Also during the shipping process I contacted the company via the Facebook messenger and received prompt responses to my questions. It usually only took a day or so for them to get back to me. I was extremely satisfied with this experience.
Now, I want to talk about the board. I have done about 40 miles on it already and all I can say is it this thing is an absolute beast and I just love riding it. When I got it, I tore it down and inspected everything. I was really impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. From the factory everything was exactly the way it should be. I am 230 pounds and this thing blazes up hills around my house. I’m not just talking about little hills, I’m talking about big ones that I didn’t even think it would be possible to climb with an eskate at my weight. After all these big climbs I also checked the motor temperatures and they only get warm to the touch. The carving on this board is also amazing. Once I’ve got the trucks dialed in I was able to hit top speeds with no wobbles but at the same time when I wanted to slow down a little and carve up the concrete I was able to do so effortlessly. Finally, I want to talk about the AT wheels. I did not buy this board to take off-roading and I actually bought the street conversion kit in case I didn’t like the AT wheels. I come with a long history of riding standard street wheels and I have to say riding these wheels so far has been really enjoyable. I feel like I can ride over anything and at the same time I haven’t had any problems with skidding or traction at all. I also really like the fact that I don’t have to worry about checking the air pressure every time I want to go riding or getting a flat tire. I know it doesn’t seem like a big deal but that’s just something I don’t wanna worry about. I should also note that the streets around my house are pretty good. The street wheels were out of stock, so they will be shipping separately, but I have liked the AT wheels so much that I would probably cancel the order. However, I have seen from other reviews that I can get a pretty big boost in performance with them so I am going to wait and see. Finally, the battery is huge and really lasts a long time. I have not done any kind of range test or anything but over the last few days I have rode it really hard testing it out and I can easily ride for about 10 to 13 miles and I still have about 40 to 60 percent battery left. Honestly, I get tired and have to stop and take a break before the battery does and I think that is pretty amazing.
This is my first eboard, and all I can say is that I am hooked and extremely satisfied with my purchase. I am mad at myself for taking so long to order one, but I honestly just did not think an eskate could do all that I wanted it do at 230lbs and living in a hilly area. If you are thinking about getting one, do it, you will not be disappointed! I just got back from a 2 hour ride and I still have a smile on my face.
